May 28, 2002

BUENOS AIRES, May 28 (DS) - Argentina international and Manchester United midfielder Juan Sebastian Veron shared opinions about his team, which is known to be one of the World Cup favorites, and the championship in his interview to the Spanish newspaper Ole.

"I am here with my team-mates with only one aim - to achieve the World Cup. And if we manage to do it, it will be the win of each of us.

"I enjoy playing in the team and being responsible for the outcomes. There was time when only very few people believed in myself, however now the case is different as I managed to prove my abilities. However, at the same time I would like to underscore that our national team is not strong due to only one player, we are strong due to our team-work and winning spirit."

Veron also commented on their upcoming match with Nigeria.

"Nigeria national team are our first opponents, and I truly believe we should concentrate on our first matches not to lose from the very start."

Referring to the question on the current competition between Crespo and Batistuta, the United player said he considers both players to be great strikers worth of respect and appreciation.

"There are a number of brilliant players in our team, but we have other advantages as well: we have a unique style of playing and we don't change it or adapt to the different rivals and also we have a much richer experience nowadays than we used to have during the championship in France, 1998".
