May 29, 2002
NARAHA, May 29 (DS) - The Argentinean national team and Manchester United midfielder Juan Sebastian Veron was quoted as saying in an interview with the Argentinean daily Clarin: "Of course, any player dreams of putting on a great performance at the World Cup, but I would prefer to perform badly but claim the World Cup."
The skillful Manchester United striker named the character of the Argentinean national team as the aspect which sets them apart: "The character to defy any rival. The character to find our way out of tough situations. The character to play by employing different tactical schemes. I am calm as I am a part of a team who have the great moral fiber. We always try to put on a mighty performance irrespective of the nature of the tie."
The striker also shared his opinion on the Argentinean national team manager Marcelo Bielsa: "Bielsa crafts our team. Everybody is well aware of our playing style. Our team try to impose our game on our rivals. In any case, Argentina have their recognizable playing style and so far it has proved quite efficient. Bielsa lets me play on the position that appeals to me the most."
