GLASGOW, Scotland (AP) -- Glasgow Rangers striker Claudio Caniggia has been given a 1,500 pound (dlrs 1,000) fine and two-match ban for his World Cup red card, according to the club's official website.
A ligament injury meant Caniggia missed out on Argentina's first two Group F matches and, when he was named as a substitute against Sweden, he was shown the red card for allegedly swearing at United Arab Emirates referee Ali Bujsaim from the bench.
The ban means the 35-year-old Rangers forward will miss the first two games of Argentina's Copa America campaign, should he continue his international career.
