BUENOS AIRES, June 21 (AFP) -- The Argentinian press saluted Brazil's victory over England in the World Cup describing the victory as "pure samba."
"The South Americans were superior and the win was doubly deserved because they came back from 1-0 down and played for half an hour with ten men," said the Ole newspaper in its internet edition.
The Clarin newspaper praised the quality of the two goals scored by Rivaldo and Ronaldinho which gave Brazil their 2-1 quarter-final triumph.
"Brazil are in the semi-finals despite the criticism they received in the press for their style and their poor play.
"Who can say the semi-final is not deserved? They showed their superiority over their adversaries," added the report.
Press and public in Argentina also took great joy in Brazil's win as it was England who knocked their own team out of the World Cup in the first round.
Some fans celebrated in nightclubs which were organising Brazil theme nights to mark the victory.
