Bielsa keeping cards close to his chest

NARAHA, Japan, June 11 (Reuters) - Argentina coach Marcelo Bielsa will not announce his team for their World Cup group F decider against Sweden until the day of the match in Miyagi on Wednesday.

Bielsa, whose team were beaten 1-0 by England on Friday, broke with his habit of the previous two group games when he named his side 24 hours before kick-off.

"I haven't resolved the composition of the team yet," Bielsa told a news conference at Argentina's World Cup retreat before the squad left for Miyagi, some 200 kilometres north along Japan's Pacific coast.

He said that apart from captain Roberto Ayala, still recovering from a pulled thigh muscle, there were no injury worries.

"(Claudio) Caniggia's running-in is done," added Bielsa using a motoring term to describe the winger's recovery from a knee injury. The 35-year-old will be available for selection for the first time in the tournament but is expected to start on the bench.

"It is the most important match during the period I've been managing," Bielsa admitted as he faced the possibility of elimination from a tournament his side started as favourites to win.

Argentina, one point behind Sweden and England, must beat the Swedes to ensure their progress to the second round from the so-called Group of Death.

Formations Bielsa has worked with in training over the last two days, seen at a distance from behind closed doors, suggest he could make a number of changes and drop Juan Sebastian Veron and Diego Simeone from the midfield.

Pablo Aimar, who took over the playmaking from Veron in the second half against England in Sapporo, looks set to keep his place behind a front three that could include Claudio Lopez instead of Kily Gonzalez on the left.

Veteran defender Jose Chamot could come in on the right of the back three with Diego Placente, a last-minute replacement for Ayala in the 1-0 win over Nigeria and loss to England, dropped to the bench.
