Argentina vs Colombia

Oct 6th, 99

(SoccerAge) -- The return of Gabriel Batistuta is the biggest news in the list that Marcelo Bielsa, coach of the Argentinean national squad, made public for the game his team will play against Colombia on October 13.

Even if Bielsa has said he will not call many players from Spanish teams, he called seven from the Iberian peninsula.

The final list is

Goalkeeper:
Germán Burgos, Pablo Cavallero

Defence:
Walter Samuel, Mauricio Pochettino, José Chamot, Nelson Vivas, Roberto Ayala, Roberto Sensini, Javier Zanetti, Juan Pablo Sorín; Midfield: Matías Almeyda, Diego Simeone, Sebastián Verón, Cristian González, Ariel Ortega, Gustavo López, Andrés Guglielminpietro

Forwards:
Gabriel Batistuta and Claudio López.

The biggest absents will be Fernando Redondo and Hernan Crespo.

Colombia at full steam

“Colombia will play with all its best players against Argentina”, said Javier Alvarez, coach of the coffee team.

Even though the list of players will be given to the public only on Monday, it is almost a fact that Freddy Rincon will be in it after he cleared the air with the coach, leaving in the past months of fights between the Colombian Soccer Federation and the player.

For the game against Argentina on October 13 the Colombian players could include a handful of “Argentines” like Oscar Córdoba, Jorge Bermúdez and Mauricio Serna (that play in Boca Juniors), Juan Pablo Angel and Mario Yepes (River Plate); Iván Córdoba (San Lorenzo), and Arley Betancourt (Lanús).
