Fiorentina's Gabriel Batistuta has given the clearest indication yet that he wants to come to United.
The hitman, in England with Argentina, has been linked with United countless times in the past, but has always claimed to be happy at Fiorentina.
But that may be about to change.
"At the moment I don't think I would upset anyone in Florence if I moved," the striker told the Daily Express. I have served them well over the years. I'm 31 and the moment is right for a move. Time is not on my side and I want to make the right decision. Let's wait and see what happens. I'm learning English and it would be nice to play in the Premiership and experience English life," he claimed.
And he has one club in mind.
"I want to play at Manchester United because they are the world's best club. United are a cool club and I am aware they have been interested in me - and have always been looking at me. It would be a great temptation to play for them, given the opportunity," he said
United fans can take another look at our possible future striker when he plays England in a friendly on Wednesday night.
He will also be in the Fiorentina team who face United at Old Trafford on March 15. The prolific hitman scored one and made one when the Italians beat us 2-0 last year.
