Hoenderloo, Holland (Clarin 28-3-99) -- There's been a change in the weather. You can feel it. The sky is no longer gray and we could feel the sun rays warming us. It's a splendid morning. At nine, Gabriel Batistuta steps in the dinning room, looking for some nourishment that will help him stand the "rigours" of the day.

"Did you set up the studio." Bati ask the reporter.

Some time later Claudio Lopez and Ortega arrive, looking as if they need a little more rest. "Clarin" reunited the "Three Musketeers of Goal" in one of the Hotel Victoria's conference room.

Do you think this will work?
"Yes, I'm sure it will. This is going to work because we have a lot of quality players, and sometime during the match spaces will open. All this great stars, can they live together?
"Here, there's no great stars, only great people. No one think himself better than the other."

Starting this new way of playing with a rival like Holland, isn't this risky?
"If Bielsa thinks of doing this, we have to put it to practice. At this stage a loss is not as significant. If we lose, this will not be the first nor the last. We have to be able to face whatever comes."

All this tactics bothers you?
"I never say I was against tactics. I'll adapt. I want to be part of the team no matter the type of play."

You said you were not happy in Italy, are you happy with the National Team?
"Of course I'm happy with the National Team. You can't compared the two. I don't enjoy myself in Italy. There are players that do not feel the game as I feel it, nor have the personality nor the pride the Argentine player has."

Piojo's turn....

Did you dream with what is happening to you now?
" I always hope for things to be the way they are now. Great an beautiful things are happening to me in this football world. I worked, learned and adapt. Also force myself to relax a little bit. I made progress in my play and definition."

The game is almost over....Bati leaves us with this three.....

1) "Bielsa? He's the same as when I met him."

Gustavo Mascardi, Piojo Lopez manager, will buy Piojo's pass at the end of this season so he will be able to leave Valencia. When asked about this, Piojo's reply was: "While I play, Mascardi takes care of the bussiness side. Don't like to mix the two."

Holland reporters went after Ortega for whatever he had to say about goal-keeper Van der Sar. "Not much to say about that now. Bati, Ortega y el Piojo, la fórmula de la Selección

Clarín reunió a los jugadores que representan la esperanza ofensiva del equipo de Bielsa. El trío revisa el Mundial que pasó y empieza a soñar el que viene. Y, por supuesto, regala confianza.

Hoenderloo, Holanda -- Cambió el clima. Y se nota. El gris se corrió y el cielo dibuja un sol que abriga un poco más. Es una mañana espléndida. A las nueve, Gabriel Batistuta llega al comedor para alimentar el cuerpo antes de la tarea exigente. "Ya armaste el estudio?", le pregunta al reportero gráfico. Un rato después, con síntomas de querer un poco más de descanso, Claudio López y Ariel Ortega apuran el paso. La cita está concretada. Clarín reunió en uno de los salones de la residencia Victoria a los tres mosqueteros del gol. A la apuesta grande de este nuevo proceso.

"Con la foto no basta?", ruega el Burrito, que no tiene demasiadas ganas de hablar. "Y con estas caras vamos a salir lindos?", pregunta el Piojo sin saber que el fotógrafo no puede hacer milagros. "Qué...? Bielsa ya les dio el equipo?", dispara Bati cuando se forman como si estuvieran en la cancha.

Empieza el partido. Y mueve Batistuta.

Es más fácil jugar con dos extremos? Qué querés que responda?
"Si te sentís más cómodo. Es lo mismo. Los sistemas son distintos, pero lo mío no cambia. Tengo que estar ahí, pisando el área constantemente."

El juego se abre a la derecha y ahí aparece el Burrito.

A vos te ilusiona, Ariel?
Por supuesto. Me gusta tener al lado a Bati y al Piojo. Y que la pelota esté el mayor tiempo adelante. Sé que para que eso ocurra habrá que correr bastante, coordinar todo bien, que no haya errores, estar convencidos. Si no, se complica.

Ahí va el Piojo corriendo por la punta.

Esto va a andar?
Estoy seguro. Vamos a funcionar muy bien porque hay jugadores de mucha calidad. Y en algún momento del partido aparecerán los espacios. Nos vamos a adaptar. A los delanteros nos dará más posibilidades porque estaremos más cerca del arco. Esta es la Selección argentina y tiene que atacar siempre. Y con mucha gente.

Pueden convivir tantas figuras?
Acá no hay grandes figuras, hay grandes personas. Y entonces nadie se cree que es de otro mundo.

Empieza el segundo tiempo y otra vez Bati tiene la pelota.

Poner la obra en movimiento con los ensayos apretados frente a un rival como Holanda es un riesgo?
"Si Bielsa piensa esto, tiene que llevarlo adelante. Para mí, una derrota no significaría nada. No va a ser ni la primera ni la última vez que pierda."

Estás más cómodo en este proceso?
"Hago lo mismo que con Passarella o Basile. Y doy lo máximo, porque en la Selección nadie se puede guardar nada."

Te gustaría que alguna vez seas considerado el mejor del mundo?
"Y a quién no...? El año que viene o en el 2001, no hay problema."

Orteguita sigue desparramando rivales. Pero no gambetea preguntas clave.

Ahora lo buscás más a Bati?
"Siempre lo busco. Todos sabemos lo que hace: se la das y rompe el arco. Antes lo tenía adelante, ahora estoy más cerca."

Llega menos la pelota sobre la raya?
"Sí. Pero me tengo que adaptar. Ahí entra a jugar la picardía de uno. Hay que moverse y pedirla. Pero yo empecé a jugar sobre la línea derecha, así que..."

Te abruma tanto ensayo táctico?
"Nunca dije que no me gusta la táctica. Me adapto. Y lo acepto. Quiero estar en la Selección y, se juegue como se juegue, lo voy a hacer."

Y que Bielsa diga que la gambeta jerarquiza, ¿qué te parece?
"No hace falta que lo diga Bielsa. En el fútbol actual, los que gambetean son los que hacen la diferencia."

Dijiste que en Italia no eras feliz. ¿En la Selección, sí?
"Claro que soy feliz en la Selección! No se puede comparar. En Italia no disfruto. Hay jugadores que no sienten el fútbol como lo siento yo. Ni tienen la personalidad o el amor propio del jugador argentino."

López mete otro pique mortal...

Soñaste mucho con este presente?
"Siempre esperé el momento dulce. A nivel futbolístico me están pasando cosas bárbaras. Aprendí, me adapté, me serené. Progresé mucho en definición y en juego."

El partido está por terminar. Bati deja tres sentencias antes del silbato final:

1) "Bielsa? Está igual que cuando lo conocí".
2) "No soy un hombre de mucha suerte. Soy uno que busca a la suerte".
3) "No creo que un caso como el de Saviola pueda pasar en la Selección mayor. El fútbol argentino vive mucho de la Selección y si no la cuidan, habrá problemas".

Gustavo Mascardi -su representante- dijo que al final de la temporada pagará la cláusula de rescisión para que el Piojo deje el Valencia. Y López mete el freno antes del último centro: "Yo me dedico a jugar y él, a los negocios. Está todo separado".

Los periodistas holandeses lo persiguen. Y Ortega los esquiva: "Me acosan. Pero ya no sirve de nada hablar de lo que pasó con el arquero (Van der Sar). No fue el dolor más grande de mi carrera, pero me dio mucha bronca. Tenía una ilusión: ser campeón del mundo. Y no se dio".

Un gol a Van der Sar sería especial?
"Hacer un gol otra vez en la Selección será maravilloso."
